5th metacarpo-phalangeal joints
SJ 4 - [Yuan-source] local pain (wrist)
Location (yangchi): on dorsum of wrist, at level of
wrist joint, in depression between the tendons of extensor digitorum communis and extensor digiti minimi
SJ 5 - [Connect to PC]
release exterior, detoxify, clear Heat, constipation due to Heat, local
problems, HBP
Location (waiguan):
2 cun proximal to SJ 4, in depression
between radius and ulna, on radial side of the extensor digitorum
communis tendons
SJ 6 - frees bowel Qi – constipation, calms rebel Qi
& Fire, local problems
Location (zhigou):
3 cun proximal to SJ 4 , in depression
between radius and ulna, on radial side of the extensor digitorum
communis muscle

Location (huizong):
3 cun proximal to SJ 4, level with and on ulnar side of SJ 6, in depression between the ulna and

SJ 9 - regulates the waterways (edema), pain in the

in depression between radius and ulna, on a line drawn between SJ 4
and the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, 7 cun proximal to SJ

Location (tianjing):
with elbow flexed, points is located in depression 1 cun proximal to the olecranon
SJ 14 - expel Wind/Damp, heaviness of shoulder, arm
pain
Location (jianliao):
at origin of deltoid muscle, in depression which lies posterior and
inferior to lateral extremity of the acromion
SJ 15 - local shoulder problems
Location (tianliao):
in suprascapular fossa,
in depressoon midway between GB 21 and SI 13 (at
medial end of suprascapular fossa)
SJ 17 - clear Heat, opens portals (improves
hearing), mid ear infection, Bell’s palsy, grinding teeth/clenched jaw
Location (yifeng):
behind the earlobe, between ramus of
mandible and mastoid process, in depression just superior to the palpable
transverse process of 1st cervical vertebra
SJ 18 - head wind (severe headache)
Location (qimai):
posterior to ear, in a small depression on mastoid bone, one 3rd
of the distance along a curved line drawn from SJ 17 to SJ 20
following the line of rim of ear
SJ 19 - head wind (severe headache)
Location (luxi):
posterior to ear, in small depression two 3rd of the
distance along a curved line drawn from SJ 17 to SJ 20 following the line
of rim of ear
SJ 20 - clears the head, brightens the eyes, red
sore swollen eyes, headache, toothache
Location (jiaosun):
on side of head, directly level with apex of ear when ear is folded
forwards
SJ 21 - opens portals (improves hearing), tinnitus,
mid ear infection, toothache
Location (ermen): in depression anterior to supratragic notch and slightly superior to condyloid process of the mandible
SJ 23 -
brightens eyes, relieves pain (headache), visual dizziness, painful swollen
eyes, twitching eyelids
Location (sizhukong): in depression on supraorbital
margin, at lateral end of eyebrow
